How Do You Like Them Apples? Lots of Ways!

Nothing says fall better than all things apple. Apple pie, apple sauce, or baked apples stuffed with cinnamon and raisins. Here is a non-traditional apple cake that can be halved (frosting not necessary) for a delicious brunch, or jazzed up in its original form for a special occasion this fall. Either way, the combination of roasted apples with applesauce (from scratch even?!), honey and lots of spices makes your whole house smell like what is best about the autumn!

Building Update - September 23, 2012

The last few weeks have gone very well for the building. The gas, which we feared would be delayed well into October, is expected to be connected this week. We have been issued a temporary certificate of occupancy by the township and expect to close on our $3 million permanent loan Tuesday morning. Our shelving and large equipment is now in place, and we are still hoping to be open by the end of October. Come take a look at our progress at the Open House, Sunday evening, Sept. 30!

You Did It! (Again!)

Once again, CreekSide Co-op’s awesome members have answered the call! Our spring member loan effort has been a success, meeting our goal of raising $50,000 by May 1, 2012. Many thanks to all of our member lenders, and special thanks to Marcy and David Fish, who hosted our most recent Member Loan Dinner, as well as Board Member and Chef Extraordinaire Andy Schloss, who prepared an amazing feast. There have been many exciting developments lately at CreekSide Co-op: the hiring of our new General Manager, the rapidly progressing construction at our new home, and the kick-off of the third year of our awesome Sunday Farmers Market, but more exciting than all of them is how our members continue to meet every challenge and achieve every goal. Go CreekSide!

Construction Continues

If you've been by the store location recently you probably noticed a significant shift in construction.  The roof is well underway and the new back wall is nearly complete.  It's so exciting to begin to see the new shape of the building begin to emerge!

Here are some more shots:

Building Update

Work on the building has been picking up steam after a few weeks of downtime while some redesign was done and new steel was assembled for our roof.  We are hopeful that work will continue without a break until the building is complete, which is still expected to be by the end of August (it’ll take another several weeks after that to open the store).
Thanks to the efforts and creativity of our amazing design and construction team, so far we have been able to keep the net additional costs under control.  The sprinkler requirement and the additional roof work has had the following impact on our project:
  • safer, more unified and more attractive roof/ceiling
  • full use of available basement space
  • better fire safety
  • redesigned member corner, which can be seen in our updated design:
